Throat singing

Throat singing, or “two-voice solo”, the primary owners of which are the peoples of the Sayan-Altai region, Bashkiria and Tibet, awakens a lot of mixed emotions in a person. At the same time, I want to be sad and rejoice, think and meditate. The uniqueness of this type of art is the specific laryngeal singing, in which the performer clearly heard two musical voices. One reaches out with a bourdon, the other (melody) makes sound amplitudes.

A LOOK AT THE ORIGINS Of ancient masters-performers, creativity has always been inspired by nature. The ability not only to imitate her, but also to penetrate into the essence was appreciated. There is a legend that says that in very old times, throat singing was common among women, and not among men. Centuries later, everything turned upside down, and today such singing has become purely masculine. There are two versions regarding its occurrence. The first insists that the Dalma religion is at the core. Only here the Mongolian, Tuvinian and Tibetan lamas sang harmonious polyphony in parts with a guttural sound, that is, they did not split their voice! The second, most believable, proves that throat singing was born in the form of lyrics, lyrical and love in content.

“TWO-VOICE SOLO” STYLES Five types of this gift of nature are distinguished by sound qualities. Kargıraa imitates wheezing or wheezing sounds. Hoomei acoustically represents heavy, buzzing sounds of extremely low frequencies. Sybyt, most likely, came from the verb “whistle” and means lamentation, crying. Borbannadyr (from “borbannat” – to roll something round) has rhythmic forms. But the name “Esengileer” is quite interesting. While riding a horse, the bonnet stuck to the saddle and the bridle touch the stirrups. A special rhythmic sound is produced, for the reproduction of which the rider must occupy a certain position in the saddle and ride amble. The fifth element of style imitates these sounds.

HEAL YOURSELF MYSELF Many people know about music therapy and the effect of music on the human body. Throat singing has a beneficial effect on the health and mental state of a person. However, like listening to him. After all, it was not in vain that such music was an instrument of meditation, with the help of which it was introduced to the language of nature. This quality was also used by shamans in their rites. By issuing harmonizing sound vibrations, they moved as close as possible to the “healthy” frequency of the diseased organ and healed the person.

POPULARITY OF THROAT SINGING TODAY Since ancient times, this type of vocal art accompanied holidays, ceremonies, was displayed in heroic tales and fairy tales, which were carefully stored and passed on from generation to generation for centuries. Now such an extraordinary phenomenon as throat singing adequately envelops the large and small halls of Russia and the CIS countries, excites the vastness of Canada and the spectacular venues of America, surprises Europeans and fascinates Asians. Masters-performers worthily promote their creativity, creating musical groups, and teach young people the ancient craft.
